That's some serious dominance. I'd switch around the first two (yeah,
Revolver has that *blueprint for all that is to come* feel to it, but the
songs on RS just don't stop!!) but can't argue with the final count and
placement! Well, maybe the Stones should get one of theirs into the top
ten.

> 2. Nirvana, ``Nevermind'' (1991)

The Sgt. Peppers of its time.

> 3. The Beach Boys, ``Pet Sounds'' (1966)
> 4. Marvin Gaye, ``What's Going On'' (1971)
> 5. Jimi Hendrix Experience, ``Are You Experienced?'' (1967)
> 7. Stevie Wonder, ``Songs in the Key of Life'' (1974)
> 9. Bob Dylan, ``Blonde on Blonde'' (1966)
> 12. The Rolling Stones, ``Exile on Main Street'' (1972)
> 13. The Who, ``Who's Next'' (1971)
> 14. Joni Mitchell, ``Blue'' (1971)

Every list I've ever seen done on the greatest albums of all time include
these eight in about the same order. I think it's a consensus!

> 27. Bruce Springsteen, ``Born to Run'' (1975)
> 19. The Velvet Underground, ``Velvet Underground & Nico'' (1967)
> 40. Van Morrison, ``Astral Weeks'' (1968)
> 30. Aretha Franklin, ``I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)'' (1967)
> 28. Patti Smith, ``Horses'' (1975)
> 80. Elvis Costello, ``My Aim is True'' (1977)
> 52. ``Pretenders'' (1980)
> 17. Sex Pistols, ``Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols''
> (1977)
> 18. Prince & the Revolution, ``Purple Rain'' (1984)
> 23. Michael Jackson, ``Thriller'' (1982)
> 25. The Clash, ``London Calling'' (1980)
> 16. Fleetwood Mac, ``Rumours'' (1977)

These would be the next tier, consensus-wise.

> 21. Elvis Presley, ``Sun Sessions'' (1976)

Not exactly an album (as far as its release), but ya gotta recognize the
King somehow, eh!?

> 15. U2, ``The Joshua Tree'' (1987)

I'm partial to War, but I'm glad to see one of theirs in the top 20.

> 20. Public Enemy, ``It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back''
> (1988)
> 37. Lauryn Hill, ``The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'' (1998)
> 42. Guns N' Roses, ``Appetite For Destruction'' (1987)
> 62. NWA, ``Straight Outta Compton'' (1988)
> 73. Jeff Buckley, ``Grace'' (1994)
> 74. Beastie Boys, ``Paul's Boutique'' (1989)
> 79. Pearl Jam, ``Ten'' (1991)
> 94. Radiohead, ``OK Computer'' (1997)
> 96. Liz Phair, ``Exile in Guyville'' (1993)
> 100. Madonna, ``Like a Prayer'' (1989)

Interesting mix of the more recent vintage. pretty good overview. though I
don't have any of her stuff, it seems that PJ Harvey is missing, as is
Beck's Odelay. Pavement? Bjork? And every list I've ever seen puts The
Chronic by Dr. Dre way up there too.

And lastly, in the whassupwiddat dept.:

> 61. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, ``Deja Vu'' (1970)

I'm sorry, but THIS is the only appearance of Neil in a Top 100 list of all
time!!? On which appear two-an-a-half of his songs? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh!
I'm not speaking as a biased fan here, I'm talking about a basic appraisal
of rock and soul music since its beginnings! Tonights The Night is about as
*popular* an album as the Replacements' *Let It Be* or even VU's debut. But
you can't deny its genuis OR its impact. Or if you want to go with a more
listener friendly pick, go with AFGR or RNS. Either one deserves to be on
this list. And in light of all the other multiple picks, I'd say both!!

No Neil. Sheeeeeeeeesh.
